Our Own Surgery Center!

Ambulatory Surgical Center

Did you know we have our own pediatric dental surgical center in addition to our main kid’s dental practice?

What’s the difference between the surgery center and the main office?

1. Main Pediatric Dental Office

This is your everyday dental home. It’s where kids go for:

  • Checkups and cleanings
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Simple extractions
  • Preventive care
  • Consults and treatment planning

It’s a regular dental office designed for kids—colorful, friendly, and focused on keeping routine visits comfortable. Most dental work happens here, and most kids do great in this setting.

2. Ambulatory Surgical Center (view video)

This is for big care done safely and comfortably all in one visit. It’s a specialized medical facility (not a hospital) where dentists and anesthesia providers can treat kids who need more support, such as:

  • Kids with anxiety or special healthcare needs
  • Children who need extensive dental treatment
  • Kids who require sedation or general anesthesia

The surgical center is equipped like a mini-hospital, with advanced monitoring, anesthesia staff, and a recovery area—but it’s designed specifically for children’s dentistry. It’s meant to make bigger treatment needs safer, faster, and far less stressful for the child.

It’s the only state-certified pediatric dental surgical center in the Tri-Cities!

We seek to provide oral health care to infants, children, adolescents, and children with special health care needs in a manner that promotes excellence in quality of care and induces a positive attitude in the patient toward future dental treatment.

Behavior Guidance

Our behavior guidance techniques have allowed most patients to receive treatment in the main dental office with minimal discomfort and without expressed fear. Minimal or moderate sedation has allowed others who are less compliant to receive treatment.

Some children and individuals with special care needs who have extensive oral healthcare needs, acute situational anxiety, uncooperative age-appropriate behavior, immature cognitive functioning, disabilities, or medical conditions require general anesthesia to receive dental treatment in a safe fashion. This happens at our surgery center.

Our goals of sedation in the pediatric patient are as follows:

  1. to guard the patient’s safety and welfare;
  2. to minimize physical discomfort and pain;
  3. to control anxiety, minimize psychological trauma, and maximize the potential for amnesia;
  4. to modify behavior and/or movement so as to allow the safe completion of the procedure;
  5. to return the patient to a state in which discharge from medical/dental supervision is safe, as determined by recognized criteria.

Our experienced anesthesia providers and nurses work with our pediatric dentists to create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our patients to receive the highest standard of care.

Our surgical facility is located in Kennewick, just a few minutes from our main clinic in Richland.
